Golden Windowmaker theme release and few tips

Since it is Sunday it is a perfect time to release  another WindowMaker theme called Golden. The theme has a wallpaper and the traditional theme parts which are needed in order to run it in WindowMaker. This is also GPL like the Darkburn theme. (http://www.techtimejourney.net/?p=520). WindowMaker and Darkburn WindowMaker theme

First. What is WindowMaker? WindowMaker is a very lightweight desktop environment which has been around since 1997. WindowMaker is very good to run with older hardware as it does not demand lot from the computer. For modern computers WindowMaker is a good choice if you want a fast desktop which is not bloated with all kinds of software by default. See more from WindowMaker here:  http://windowmaker.org/

Connecting to wpa/wpa2 protected Wi-Fi network without GUI frontends

When I started using Arch I found myself having problems with connecting to my Wi-Fi network with the usual GUI frontends (network-manager and Wicd). Luckily there is another method to do these things if the GUI way falls short. In order to connect to wpa or wpa2 network you will need the following packages:

wpa_supplicant and wireless-tools. Wireless-tools might not be strictly necessary but having it does no harm. You may also need to install dhclient, in some cases.

Techtime Journey: look and feature update

Techtime Journey just got updated. We now have a new look and a Facebook page open (www.facebook.com/TechtimeJourney) where you can follow us more easier than ever. Also now when you open a post you will see Facebook like and subscribe buttons. Do remember that if you are not so keen on Facebook you can always follow us with RSS feed (which is located on a sidebar). Also a schedule calendar was added so you could see more easily what is coming next. By the way if you do have a topic in mind which you would like me to cover just drop a comment to me (for example to the most recent post) and I will get back to you.

One further announce: near future plans also include Twitter and possibly a Youtube chanel so stay tuned.
